Step 5: Generation and Testing

The penultimate phase is now reached. The system is analysed for inconsistencies so that there can be no compilation errors on the target platform when the system is compiled.

The system is then generated and the Java programs are compiled.

In the past, the testing stage, which is the critical stage, has often been left to unsuspecting users.

Testing follows a structured approach. Test Packs are printed for the entry programs in particular (although you may print them for all programs). Test Matrix Reports are also printed and compared with the original test data.

The conversion programs are run. A utility exists to test the converted data against the edit rules and the entity relationships so that there will be no erroneous data. In the past, this has been a major problem with converted systems.

Step 6: Training and Cut-Over

The final phase is to print the Training Packs for the users and train them to their satisfaction.

The cutover date is agreed and the conversion programs are run again.

Hands-On Business Analysts

Your first application should have high visibility in your company. Our experts, who are experienced in your industry or your function, will work with you to ensure success.

The delivery process follows a series of events:

• We use brainstorming workshops to scope the project.
• We focus on the Business Rules (there are usually only a few but they determine the complexity of the application). We agree the Rules using worked examples.
• We define the underlying Database schema and walk the user through it.
• We define the eCommerce use-case diagrams for the site and link the processes to the schema.
• We print the User Guide (every screen and every report) and work with the Prototypes to encourage change to suit the users.
• We convert existing files, or integrate with legacy applications.
• The system is generated and tested.
• The users sign off the system.

Our technology can be used on just about any platform, with any applications server or database; we are truly technology agnostic. If the Generator does not support any technology that you consider essential to your business, then we will gladly look at incorporating it into our offering. This is generally a straightforward process and can be quickly achieved.
