Board Members

Alan Watkins, Chairman

Alan is a seasoned Chairman and Senior Executive, who has over 30 years experience within the IT industry. He has experience of chairing both Public and Private Companies and works closely with the Private Equity & Venture Capital industry in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications sector.

He is currently Chairman of AIM listed Fujin Technology Plc (formerly Matrix Communications Group Plc, a £60M, Virtual Network Operator (VNO).

He is also Chairman of Glasshouse, a Boston based, VC backed Storage Services Company, Chronicle Solutions, a VC backed Content Appliance provider and Foster MacCallum, an early stage Software House.

Previously Alan has held senior positions within BT, Timeplex, Outsource Group, Giantloop and most notably was the Founder and Managing Director of Cisco Systems Ltd, Cisco's UK subsidiary. During this time he grew the operation from a standing start to over £300M of revenue.

He has a proven track record of establishing and growing "fast track" start ups, and a record of recruiting and developing successful teams. As well as this he has significant experience of conducting business throughout EMEA and Asia, Turnarounds, Mergers, Acquisitions and Fund Raising.

Tom Hankinson, Non-Executive Director

After a degree from Cambridge and an MBA from Columbia University in New York, Tom has spent his whole working life in computing. His most recent full time role was as Managing Director of a software products company, which he helped grow tenfold over ten years and took into a number of overseas markets, including the United States.

Since selling the business in 1996, he has helped a number of early stage companies with strategy and marketing, and in raising finance. He has been a member of the Council of the United Kingdom's industry association, Intellect UK (formerly the Computing Services and Software Association), and is currently Chairman of the Advisory Board of the School of Management at the University of Southampton. He is also on the Board of Network Analytics Limited, a software company that provides tools for business intelligence and charge back for wide area networks.

His role with Appligenics is to help the Board formulate its commercial and international strategies, and to help forge relationships with system integrators, software product companies and other computer service organizations.
